Our history

In 2015, while visiting his family, Benjamin COHEN — co-founder and CEO — realized that his young cousins spent only a few seconds brushing their teeth before going to bed, with a very approximate gesture. Like all children, they don’t want to brush their teeth, especially in the morning before school or at night before going to sleep.

So why not do it properly? His cousins explained that it takes too long, is boring, and since they do it a little bit every day anyway, it’s enough. That same evening, aware that he himself sometimes doesn’t follow the dentist-recommended brushing time, Benjamin decided to time himself. Result: 40 seconds instead of 2 minutes.

What started as a simple experiment gave him the idea to create a product that would simplify tooth brushing while making it more effective: why brush teeth one by one, which is time-consuming, instead of brushing them all simultaneously?

Benjamin then relied on his expertise in entrepreneurship and medical devices to launch this project. He quickly partnered with a doctor of science for the technical development of the product: Christophe CADOT, co-founder and CTO.

Financially supported from the start by various players such as bpiFrance and its French Tech grant, the initial project was called FasTeesH and aimed to provide caregivers in medico-social institutions (EHPAD, FAM, MAS, etc.) with a tool to brush the teeth of elderly and disabled patients, for whom tooth brushing is usually not done. Early 2019, a medical device was marketed for this type of institution. Less than a year later, the team launched Y-Brush on the market, another product based on the same technology but this time aimed at individuals, quickly sold in more than 70 countries.

Today, FasTeesH and Y-Brush are supported by many stakeholders such as bpiFrance, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, the Lyon metropolis, the Lyon Biopôle, as well as numerous other partners.
